    Custom Feed Filtering

Klydo provides users with an easy and convenient way to organize all of your incoming content. We know our users will be social savvy and active with more than several networks at one time; a filter system just made sense.

With Custom Feed Filtering by Klydo, you’ll have full control of your incoming content and how you want to filter it. Klydo users can easily create personalized internet-style tabs on their dashboard as seen above.

So, if you’d like to have a filter for just your Twitter activity and one for Facebook activity, you can. The flexibility doesn’t stop there though, there are thousands of filter options available at your fingertips!

  • Pixel Gets Embroidered! Twice!

Part of gearing up to present Klydo to the media and potential investors is looking good. What better way to do so then embroidering Pixel (aka Klydo fish) on a Klydo-blue shirt?

    Pixel Placement

It didn’t stop there though…I had it placed on the back of my Macbook Pro bag, icing on the cake!

    Final Product!

Since there is only one of each, we are offering them post-conference for just ten million dollars. Takers? :P

  • A Glimpse Into Our Tag Line

When creating a product that is poised to take over social media, a simple and descriptive tag line is a must. MySpace went with “A Place for Friends.”, Twitter with “Share and discover what’s happening right now, anywhere in the world.” and Facebook with “Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life.”. While Twitter and Facebook decided on a bit longer tag line than MySpace, we decided we wanted something right in the middle.

In the beginning, we toyed with things like “Social Superpowers” but what we really wanted to communicate with our tag line is what it is that Klydo is and what it does and do it in a manner that it made sense to everyone. The real challenge was trying to explain in a glimpse what it is that Klydo does, without getting into too much detail.

It was late one evening during one of our conference calls and after nearly another hour making up some really terrible and unmentionable tag lines that “Update & Stay Updated” took form. When it was spit out, we agreed that it was the perfect fit for Klydo. Without using words like “aggregating” and “combination of networks”, this new tag line did it all. Klydo gives you the tools necessary to Update, and Stay Updated. This is something that will become more and more valuable as new services begin to populate the social community.

  • A Look Back at Klydo in 2008

Many of you won’t know that Klydo actually originated way back in early 2008 as a social network that was slowly transformed into a kind of aggregator with features like posting updates to Twitter. Way back then it was simply a hobby run out of a bedroom whilst the usual educational commitments and finding a job process were high on the to-do list.

Now 2 years on (Klydo’s name turns 2 on 10th Feb) we have had some lovely screenshots sent to us by the developer who was involved in the project way back then, Caleb Mingle.

The header on Klydo would allow you to change the colour of it inline with a colour chooser. This helped with things such as making the site’s header match your profile’s design.

Profiles allowed for huge amounts of customisation and widget support. This profile design was made by Caleb who isn’t a designer but the tools were powerful enough to allow him to change it to how he wanted.

Looking back we can all see it wasn’t pretty, really wasn’t pretty. It was during a period where the internet began to really become the focus of a lot of people’s daily lives and it was exciting to be experimenting in a whole new genre of website, social aggregation. Thankfully the brand, website and fortunes of Klydo have improved and this time around it’s aiming for something other than just passing time after school.

You can view all the screenshots on our Flickr.

  • The Klydo fish, ‘Pixel’ makes her first appearance!

There are several upcoming events that some of our Klydo staff will be attending (all of which we will announce here) and we thought it were time we dressed right. In addition to these sexy new shirts, we have decided to unveil ‘Pixel’, the Klydo fish!

Pixel is a rendition of the ‘D’ and ‘O’ found at the end of Klydo with just slight appearance modifications. You will find her with a pleasant smile and some bubbles that bring her to life. This Klydo character has been discussed by the team for several weeks now and there have been many editions. It was decided that Pixel would be best suited as a separate entity from our logo but similar enough to be recognizable.

You will be accompanied by Pixel throughout the Klydo website experience and we trust she will take good care of you. So, do her a favor and welcome her to our team!

  • Server Maintenance

We’re upgrading our servers and expect downtime to run up until 5am (GMT). The upgrade will improve our Apache and PHP support, allowing the site to be even more super awesome.

See you on the other side!

Update: Maintenance was completed successfully (as of 03:59). No noticeable interruption of service was caused by the upgrades.

  • Name Change: Answers

Just a few days ago we announced the rename of Zood and with that announcement we promised we’d publish a blog with a bit more information concerning the change. We hope this will clear up any questions you may have and provide you with a look into the things that have taken place since we set out to change the world early last year.

In case you missed the announcement, find it here.

When Zood started to take shape earlier last year we were approached by several individuals who took interest in the product and wanted to take part by investing in our endeavors. One in particularly stood out from the crowd and talks ensued. We were anxious to start building the product which at the time still did not have a name. This particular investor offered a very tasty trade as part of the terms we were discussing that included the Zood domain that would be valued as a cash investment.

As the team began to develop the site, service and brand, the talks continued to take place. We were very excited to see the positive response when we introduced the idea to the public and after our first mini-BETA for the Zood mailbox in September. Shortly after, the talks between Zood and this investor began to fade as his responsibilities grew elsewhere. We painstakingly continued work on Zood and decided that with such a delicate situation taking place, it would be best to keep the lid tight on announcements, screenshots, development blogs and marketing.

The new year was approaching and we knew that as small company with limited resources, it would be impossible to make a reasonable counteroffer for the Zood domain. We spent weeks discussing the situation and made lists upon lists of potential domain ideas before reaching a decision to move forward with our product under the name of Klydo. Klydo is a domain that Greg Cooper has owned for quite some time now and without getting into too much detail, it was a wise decision to preserve the very essence of our service.

Most importantly, moving from Zood to Klydo was necessary for us to bring the BETA to you. Until we were able to secure a thing as important as our domain, opening the site for BETA use would be premature and unwise. In addition, we are now able to unveil things on a regular basis and openly discuss the ongoing development of Klydo. We know this is an area that has been lacking and we are looking to make it up to you with several back-to-back screenshots of some really neat features we’ve been polishing for the past few months. Lastly, now that we have secured a domain and company name, we are able to reach out to investors and actively promote our product.

The Klydo team is very appreciative of your ongoing support and we are excited to start pulling the curtains back on some of the features that make our service a step above the rest and what we believe will leave you hungry for more. We hope you can stomach this change of pace and our renewed commitment to keeping you in the loop as we very quickly progress toward an open BETA in the coming months.

    Yours Truly,

    The Klydo Team

  • We’re packing our bags and moving, join us!

Zood has been in the development stage for just over 6 months now and what a long way it has come! There are several things we’ve had to overcome as a new startup and we’d like to talk to you about one of them today.

As of now, Zood will be known as Klydo. To make the transition easier, the Zood domain will temporarily redirect to Klydo. The move is necessary to continue development and get the closed BETA out to our already eagerly awaiting users. We’ll publish a blog post within the next few days outlining the details of this move including thoughts from the Klydo founding team.

The change doesn’t affect you apart from needing to remember to visit klydo.com instead of zood.com. We’ll be doing our best to get everything switched over and on the road to our closed BETA release within the coming months. In addition to all that excitement, we have made a commitment to keep you in the loop with more frequent interaction via Facebook and Twitter as well as a regularly updated blog.

We hope you are as excited as we are to take part in the Klydo experience throughout 2010.

    Yours Truly,

    Klydo Team
