  • A Look Back at Klydo in 2008

Many of you won’t know that Klydo actually originated way back in early 2008 as a social network that was slowly transformed into a kind of aggregator with features like posting updates to Twitter. Way back then it was simply a hobby run out of a bedroom whilst the usual educational commitments and finding a job process were high on the to-do list.

Now 2 years on (Klydo’s name turns 2 on 10th Feb) we have had some lovely screenshots sent to us by the developer who was involved in the project way back then, Caleb Mingle.

The header on Klydo would allow you to change the colour of it inline with a colour chooser. This helped with things such as making the site’s header match your profile’s design.

Profiles allowed for huge amounts of customisation and widget support. This profile design was made by Caleb who isn’t a designer but the tools were powerful enough to allow him to change it to how he wanted.

Looking back we can all see it wasn’t pretty, really wasn’t pretty. It was during a period where the internet began to really become the focus of a lot of people’s daily lives and it was exciting to be experimenting in a whole new genre of website, social aggregation. Thankfully the brand, website and fortunes of Klydo have improved and this time around it’s aiming for something other than just passing time after school.

You can view all the screenshots on our Flickr.
